Blaze Farm Camping Barn

Blaze Farm Camping Barn ( or Underbank Camping Barn ) is located on Blaze Farm, a sheep and dairy farm, with home made ice cream, on the western edge of the Peak District National Park. This lovely little barn overlooks the Wildboarclough Valley and is close to the stunning viewpoint on Shuttlingsloe Fell.

The camping barn has provided a simple base for walking, climbing, fell-running, and family escapes in this beautiful landscape for many years.  First operated under YHA marketing and more lately as part of the Independent Hostels network.

Closed in August 2018, the camping barn is undergoing refurbishment.  Included in these plans are hopes for a larger bunkhouse around the main farmyard of Blaze Farm.  The new bunkhouse will be ideal for larger groups with a large social areas ideal for classroom/conference uses.

The original camping barn had a  sleeping area is in two a-joining rooms upstairs, with the living area, shower room and kitchen downstairs. There was space to sleep 10 people on their own mattresses.  The upstairs floors were wooden where camping mattresses and sleeping bags were required.   Downstairs was a dining area with a table and benches, a shower room with toilet and a small kitchen with microwave, fridge, kettle and washing up facilities.

Outside there is a walled garden with stunning views over the fields up to Shuttlingsloe crag.   There are stone benches surrounding a fire pit and space for a BBQ, making a wonderful space to enjoy an evening in this stunning landscape. In the daytime you can explore woodland nature, burbling streams and wild fells with stunning views, all within easy reach by foot.

The camping barn has an exceptionally beautiful location in the remote Wildboaclough valley in the Peak District.  Yet is only 30 mins drive from the M6 and a short walk from a pub serving meals.  To find out more about things to do during your stay, the attractions on the farm and wildlife of the valley have a look at the local attractions.
